Philosophy Statement:
As Americans change, becoming more reliant on technology to do the work once done by
hand and video games to enjoy sports now instead of playing outside physical education becomes more important then ever. Physical
education has gone through a change in the last couple of years. Moving from a classroom dominated by athletes, excluding
those that needed the class time the most, to a classroom with an attitude of everyone active, all the time. Physical education
teachers strive to make sure that every student is able to participate in everything the class does, making sure no students
are excluded, and giving every student the opportunity to succeed and improve themselves physically as well as emotionally.
The goal for the physical education department is that every student will participate in physical education, have fun, and
benefit from the program.
Curriculum:
The
curriculum for this course will be one of multi activity. The main goal of the course is to get ever student active. Therefore
letting the students experience a wide range of activities gives them the opportunity to find something they like, and hopefully
continuing the activity after school and on their own time. Grades will be determined based on tests each student will take
at the beginning and end of a unit. Also taken into consideration will be the number of times a student does not dress, and
how active students are in class
